What began as a heartfelt Mother’s Day initiative in 2022 to capture birth stories has blossomed into a celebration of all life-changing moments. Because, after all, every narrative deserves to be cherished and shared. Chelsea and I are so excited to bring back the Stories project!
Whether it's the joy of welcoming a child into the world, the resilience shown through adoption or foster journeys, the courage in navigating difficult choices like abortion, or the profound experience of miscarriage and loss—every story is significant.
Equally important are the moments of transformation that shape us: embarking on a new career path, overcoming the challenges of illness, working through deep-seated trauma, or finding strength in the face of unexpected change. These experiences define who we are, and every one of them deserves to be heard, honored, and remembered.
A safe haven for your story
Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide a safe and supportive space where individuals can share their journeys. Stories is not just about documentation; it's about honoring the strength and resilience found in every personal tale. When you join us at Chelsea’s Bay View studio, you're not just sharing your story – you're embracing it fully, surrounded by 2 women dedicated to listening, understanding, and preserving your narrative with care.
How it works
When you participate in Stories, you're welcomed into a nurturing environment where your story takes center stage. Sessions begin with a heartfelt conversation where we listen attentively as you share your experience. Professional photography ensures that every moment, from the poignant to the joyous, is captured beautifully. As a memento of your participation, you'll receive a small gallery of photos, including a Polaroid snapshot, to cherish and revisit your Stories experience.

Giving back
Chelsea & I also believe in the power of community support. That's why we suggest a $25 deposit for each session, which is fully donated to a local organization aligned with the themes of your story. Whether it's supporting women's health initiatives, fostering LGBTQ rights, or advocating for adoption and foster care, your contribution helps make a difference where it matters most.
Join us
Whether you're ready to share your story or simply curious about our project, we invite you to join the Stories movement. Together, let's celebrate the diversity of human experience, honor the moments that shape us, and ensure that every story finds its place in the world.
Let your story be heard. Let it be remembered. Let it inspire - schedule your Stories session here.

Feeling inspired but still inquired? Here’s a quick Stories project Q&A:
Who are you?
Danielle of Rosewood Weddings, a planning & design business based in Milwaukee, and Chelsea of Chelsea Matson Photography, a professional brand, lifestyle, maternity & wedding photographer based in Milwaukee. We’re Moms, we’re best friends, we’re pretty cool.
What will we talk about?
Anything that’s on your mind or heart! If you’re feeling shy or uncomfortable, we’re here to facilitate the conversation and make you feel at ease. Think coffee with your pals vs sweaty palms interview.
I’m not sure if my story qualifies, how will I know?
It does qualify! We’ve seen the benefits of celebrating the diversity of human experience & encourage you to jump in…even if we just end up talking about our favorite restaurants and you get some professional photos - it’s a win-win!
Why do I have to pay?
To ensure reliability and respect everyone's time, we've added a small registration fee. Every dollar goes to local organizations that align with our mission, keeping Stories a safe and supportive space for sharing life's journeys.
I want this experience kept private, can I?
Of course! We appreciate and respect your desire to keep your Stories experience private between us gals. While you'll sign a photography release, we fully honor anyone who prefers not to have their photos shared on social media or for future projects. You have the option to remain anonymous in photos that won't be shared and to use just first names if you prefer.
When will I get my photo gallery?
You'll get a private photo gallery link within three weeks of your session—but you'll walk away with your adorable Polaroid the same day!
What will you do with these stories?
The far-off dream is to compile these stories into a book, sharing them as a source of hope and solidarity. The most immediate reward is that sharing these stories can provide support, foster connection, and bring a sense of closure to those who need it.
