Intimate Milwaukee wedding
The coolest kind of love is Katie + Tony's kind. These two met at a yoga retreat in Mexico! Working with them was a treat right from the start, because they love + understand each other so deeply.
When Katie first reached out, she told me they were hoping for a relatively short engagement and looking to get married in winter. They both work in the *medical field, and don't particularly find joy in organizing.
While venue-shopping, we kept their wedding theme in mind: Hygge! Katie mentioned Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, which is right behind my house in Fox Point. After walking through the space, I knew we could build on the woodsy foundation, and give it the Harry Potter-meets-modern-cozy-spin they were hoping for.
Talk about making your wedding unique...once I found out that Katie worked at a Nature Center growing up, we totally pulled Audubon designs into the wedding with paper goods + dessert! There's also an option to have raptors at the wedding itself through the Audubon program, which (duh) Katie + Tony added on.
There was fresh snow on the ground, and these two had a beautiful wedding...which they very much deserved. Making their wedding vision a reality was a joy for me. This Milwaukee winter wedding felt just like Katie + Tony - two wildly intelligent, creative, warm-hearted people! I'll also add stylish, musical and funny.

*Tony wrote for and STARRED in an episode of Grey's Anatomy; and was also on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. A celeb IRL. So, I'll categorize this as a celeb wedding.
This is Orion, a Barred Owl!
For the ceremony setup, Katie + Tony wanted something a bit gothic, but still warm + inviting.
Here's Valkyrie, the ultimate bad ass. Guests were greeted by these raptors as they arrived for the ceremony. It was so fun for them to learn about these birds from their handlers as they walked in.
This little ring bearer carried a bird's nest, of course. Katie's Dad officiated the wedding, which was incredibly special.
Tony's family is Jamaican, and to honor his heritage we had Jamaican rum cakes in favor boxes for each guest.
The gem of the reception decor was this floral installation from Milwaukee Flower Co. We all kept calling it a love nest - it hung over guests as they enjoyed cocktails + danced.
Harry Potter fans, I know, feeling this cake.
They had a gorgeous outfit change (told you, stylish), and made everyone smile with their first dance.
