Wisconsin gets brushed off when it comes to our wedding industry. Some say we’re always the last heat of national trends; some think it’s a simple market without lavish. The only truth that I can speak on, in that regard, is that Wisconsin is a badass state, filled with incredibly talented wedding vendors. And, with wildly creative people, you don’t need to do much else to evoke a feeling or make an impact.
What I love most about styled shoots is the overarching opportunity for vendors to showcase their skills.
Back in March, I produced a styled wedding shoot at The Box Mke with several other Wisconsin vendors. There was a point of the shoot, in the morning, where we were all gathered around a highboy. There was a box of Holey Moley Doughnut crumbs, a coffee traveler, and a handful of sleepy-eyed wedding professionals honing their skills. The energy in the room was humbling, positive & warm. Those relationships, laughs, and connecting moments are what really make these styled shoots so special. And hey, some lovely marketing imagery comes out of it, too – so that’s a plus!
My daughter, Emma, & I were browsing our local garden center and came across a ‘fairy house’ kit for kids. The kit immediately sparked a conversation in her, and we walked the aisles discussing moss and what fairy wings might be made of.
On the drive home, I remembered when I was a little girl. I pulled patches of moss up from our sidewalk and held it high with two little sticks. I made fairy villages back then. The magic of fairies and fairytales is so real and, evidently, timeless. I was inspired to produce a moss and fairy-inspired styled shoot, set in the cream city brick-drenched background of our downtown.
Our styled shoot feature submissions are pending, so we won’t be releasing imagery for a bit. But please check out the magic of all participating wedding vendors:
